Residential Window cleaning
The number one question we are asked regarding windows is how do you determine the cost. Here’s our breakdown:
$5 per 3×4 exterior window pane
$7 per 3×4 interior window pane
$10 per 4×5 Large window pane/glass door
So, what does this mean? First let’s clarify the term “pane”. most residential window are made of two panes. The stationary pane that doesn’t move and a sliding pane that usually has a screen in front of it to keep bugs and debris out when the window is opened. each of these panes are considered a window. If it is a single pane that doesn’t slide open or have a screen, then it is a single window no matter how big or small.
This is where the above cost chart comes in. Small windows, like shower windows are often combined with other small windows to be considered one widow that way the customer is not charged for one square foot of glass, while windows that are closer to the size of a sliding glass door are consider large windows.
Interior window cost more, as they take longer and require more caution, while cleaning inside someone’s home.
Screen cleaning
Screen cleaning is often overlooked as an aesthetic service. Yes, clean windows look better with clean screens, but that’s not the primary benefit. A window screen is an air filter for the air coming into your home through an open window. When you look at your screen and see all that dust and dirt buildup on it, that’s what it prevented you from breathing into your lungs while the window was open. Just like any other filter, once its saturated, it no longer serves its purpose effectively and you’re now breathing in what it no longer catches.
To clean screens, we scrub them using a soft bristle brush and a degreasing soap solution. Customers are always welcome to watch the process so they can see just how dirty their screens really are.
We charge $5/screen regardless of how big it is and will only wash screens that are easily removable and still structurally sound to avoid damaging it further to the point that it is impossible to put back in place.
Commercial Window cleaning
If its on a commercial structure or involves more than one unit of a residential complex, we consider it a commercial job. The good news is: we do not charge more for commercial windows than residential. Commercial sites typically offer larger and uniquely shaped windows which don’t always fit into the simple cost chart that we use which requires a custom estimate. Also, accessibility can be a factor as some commercial buildings have windows in hard to reach places (the building can only have two floors, but technically be a 3-story building in height; or the windows can be obstructed by some special design feature that will require some creativity and patience to work around).
This doesn’t mean we won’t do it, but it will cost more as the time it will take to complete the task will increase drastically in many cases.
